3 Tips to Jumpstart Weight Loss

Weight loss is difficult for most people. Many people carry around extra pounds for years and years and never find solutions to this problem. Becky and I have found with many of our clients that it’s a problem of being uneducated on what makes you gain weight and what makes you lose weight. We believe that be helping to educate you on how to change you habits to healthier habits, you will also find the ability to trim up and get fit. Here we are sharing a few weight loss tips that we have used and taught, and watched people implement to hit their weight loss goals.
Weight Loss Tip #1
“Choosing fruit and yogurt over a bagel and cream cheese will help you lose weight and give you more energy all day long.”

This is completely true, not only because of the high calorie and fat content of the bagel and cream cheese, but because the fruit and yogurt has the added benefit of protein, antioxidants, and complex carbohydrates. In short, a bagel is considered simple carbohydrate, which is the wrong kind of carbs. Simple carbohydrates make your blood sugar spike and cause cravings. Complex carbohydrates on the other hand are what we need, good carbs, and they give you energy. Weight Loss Tip #2
“Starting your day with sugary, carb based foods will stop your weight loss and give you more sugar cravings all day long.”

Have you ever eaten something like a cinnamon roll for breakfast, and then wondered why you felt sluggish later on in the day? The reason that breakfast is called that is because you are breaking the fast from the night. What you eat first in the day determines how your body will feel hours later, so choose wisely. Sugary foods also cause your blood sugar levels to spike, and then drop triggering cravings! Weight Loss Tip #3
“Drinking Water is important for weight loss. This is how much you should drink daily. Take your body weight divided by two in ounces.”

Water is essential for your health. It’s incredible all the things that it does, but maybe the most important thing is that it carries nutrients around your body. It also flushed out things you don’t need and carries it from the body in your urine. Water is important! We have seen people lose weight just from drinking the right amount of water! How much water do you need? Take your body weight and divide by two. That number is how many ounces you need to drink every day. When your weight changes so does your water intake, to be watching! More is better though, so carry around some water with you all the time!
