As a Wellness Coach, I have worked with hundreds of clients to help them lose weight and keep it off. Through this weight loss process, I have had the joy of watching how losing the weight has improved their life, and many times its way that people don’t think about. In this post I am going to share with your some uncommon ways that weight loss benefits you, and hopefully it will help some of you out there to stay motivated and continue working hard to get to your goal weight. I know it’s not easy, and having a wellness coach like me does help you stay with it, but it really comes down to how committed you are to your weight loss goal, and if the benefits you see really outweigh the pain you are feeling. Hopefully I can share with you enough benefits to encourage you to stick with it. So here are 5 ways that losing ten pounds or more will change your life!

Weight Loss Benefit #1 - Your Energy Level

Many people don’t realize this, but as you begin doing the things you need to do to lose weight, you will feel more energetic. Getting your nutrition right, and light to moderate exercise will drastically improve the rate of your metabolism making you burn more calories and feel incredible. You may not experience this if you are losing weight in an unhealthy way, so keep that in mind.

Weight Loss Benefit #2 - How Your Clothes Fit

Imagine one day you are getting dressed and you notice that your jeans fit looser, not just in the waist but in the legs too. The feeling of that can motivate you for a long time. Often people who are trying to lose weight notice their clothes fitting looser before they can actually see results in a mirror, and this is an awesome thing to experience! I love getting those phone calls and text messages from my clients saying that they are out buying new clothes because their old ones don’t fit anymore. When you are working hard to lose weight, this can keep you smiling for days.

Weight Loss Benefit #3 - Mental Clarity

Through good nutrition and light exercise you lose weight, but that

process also feeds your brain with the things it needs to function properly. There are also lots of things that can disturb your mental clarity such as soda, and cutting that out of your diet can drastically improve your mental clarity. How does mental clarity help you with weight loss? It can help a lot actually. Weight loss, sticking with it is mostly mental, so if you have your mind right, you end up hitting your goal. Mental clarity helps you make good decisions all the time. Have you ever tried to make a decision when you are tired? What about when you are hungry? Being tired and hungry disturbs your mental clarity much like improper nutrition. Therefore this is a huge benefit to you while working toward your weight loss goal.

Weight Loss Benefit #4 – Confidence

Being overweight really diminishes your confidence. It’s a fact that you are more insecure when you are more and more overweight, but as you start losing weight you begin to get that confidence in yourself and how you look back. Have you ever seen someone lose a lot of weight, and then do things they never would have done before? Maybe dancing or karaoke? This is because of the confidence boost you get as you become the person that can make the healthy choices needed for sustained weight loss. In my opinion, this is the best part. Feeling good about yourself is worth millions.

Weight Loss Benefit #5 – Mood

I have met many people in my time that have weight to lose, maybe they are unhealthy and don’t know what to do about it, and quite often they have poor attitudes. It makes sense that carrying around extra weight and having low energy will take its toll on your mood. The flip side of this is that when people lose weight, and they change their habits and start to believe that they can do this, their mood improves. Sometimes I will have a client

meet with me, and on the first meeting they don’t smile once, even at my bad jokes, but after a while our meetings turn into more laughing and smiling and I see the change in them. How exciting to see someone get their life back like that. What is really cool about this benefit of weight loss is that their relationships improve, and you see things turning around for them. This boost in positivity makes them more attractive, therefore opening doors in other areas of their life. It’s very exciting to witness and be a part of it.
